Statistics and studies have demonstrated the link between COVID-19 death rates and environmental injustice. This webinar will address this link from three perspectives: scientific research, front line experience, and government response. The featured speakers will be:
• Senator Cory Booker, a founding member of the Senate’s Environmental Justice Caucus and a prominent voice in how our government is addressing COVID-19.
• Francesca Dominici, the senior author of a much cited Harvard study on exposure to air pollution and COVID-19 mortality in the United States.
• Rev. Lionel Murphy, a leader from the front lines of St. John the Baptist Parish in Louisiana which has suffered disproportionately from toxic air pollution and the COVID-19 pandemic.
This webinar is co-hosted by the Rev. Dr. Brooks Berndt of the United Church of Christ Environmental Justice Ministry and the Rev. Michael Malcom of Alabama Interfaith Power & Light and the People's Justice Council.
